instruction manual for something that doesn't work

2020

instruction manual for something that doesn’t work is a collaborative community and print-based project created through the Mitchell Art Gallery‘s Artist Exchange Program.

Using a small 3D printed replica of a printing press by Open Press Project, Alma Louise Visscher and I invited the public to contribute physical objects or intangible sentiments to be printed with ink made from the geraniums on Alma’s porch. In response to the resulting prints, a zine documenting the printing and ink-making processes was created and distributed to contributors.

This project aims to create a loose framework in which to share (with each other and with the participants). It serves as both a record and reflection upon the learning we have been doing together about embracing the possibility of failure.
